What AZ just passed, simplified.

On break. You're safe. Back January 11

Back to this week
SB1415In effect since Out-of-state license must have been held before January 1, 2026 (and 2 more dates)

Arizona residents who work as salaried employees of an insurer or managing general agent and held another state's home-state adjuster license before January 1, 2026 may get an Arizona adjuster license without taking Arizona's exam if they apply by June 30, 2027, but the license is limited to adjusting claims as that kind of employee.

  • September 12, 2026
  • Application deadline: on or before June 30, 2027: Applications for an adjuster license without the Arizona exam
  • Out-of-state license must have been held before January 1, 2026: Eligibility for an adjuster license without the Arizona exam

What changes

  • NowA salaried employee of an insurer or managing general agent is eligible for an Arizona adjuster license without taking Arizona's adjuster exam if the employee is an Arizona resident, held an active designated home state adjuster license in another state before January 1, 2026, and is in good standing in that state.

  • NowTo qualify this way, the employee must have earned the other state's license by passing a state-approved exam, and must apply on the director's form, pay the fee and submit fingerprints on or before June 30, 2027.

  • NowA person licensed this way may only adjust claims as a salaried employee of an insurer or managing general agent, and may not adjust claims on behalf of an insured or for an insurer in any other role.

  • NowThe license is valid and renewable only until the person stops adjusting claims as a salaried employee of the licensed insurer or managing general agent. Anyone who wants to act as or claim to be an adjuster must apply for and get an adjuster license.

Who it affects

  • Arizona residents who are salaried employees of an insurer or managing general agent and held another state's home-state adjuster license before January 1, 2026
  • Insurers and managing general agents
  • Arizona's insurance director

What you need to do

Eligible salaried employees who want this license must apply on the director's form, pay the fee and submit fingerprints on or before June 30, 2027. Others need nothing.

What the law doesn't answer

  • The amount of the application fee
  • What the regular Arizona adjuster licensing rules in sections 20-321.01 and 20-321.02 require
  • The full definition of "salaried employee" referenced in section 20-321
  • Whether a person licensed this way keeps the license after moving to a different insurer or managing general agent
  • How renewal works for these licenses
